IT Highlight Story from Dairy Operations, by Maggie Carney?
The IT organization is critical to the support and seamlessness of our Dairy business retail model. We are a unique portion of our food animal business because we are able to place and ship orders direct to our dairy producer customers. The Elanco Connect dairy retail model is a vitally important CRM system for us – the IT team was able to successfully program the system to maintain our need for continuous order ‘schedules’ for our customers. This allows us to have over 12 months of future orders scheduled, which not only keeps our customers on time with the administration of their product, but also assists in more accurate forecasting for manufacturing needs. Because Elanco Connect is interfaced with SAP – it allows us to operate in one system across our entire Dairy Business Unit. Having field sales, Tech Consultants, and Customer Service all in one system allows for the field to quickly see when we have interacted with one of their customers and customer service can quickly see what a field rep has recently been on the farm. This information is truly valuable when trying to provide the highest customer experience possible.
We also have outstanding IT support when problems/issues arise; we all know a certain amount of problems can occur with any computer system. The IT team is quick to respond, assists with a solution, and always thinks of ways to prevent it from happening again. Because of this dedication to our business; they have prevented or minimized the customer impact of these issues. Many times our customers never have visibility of this (which is what we want and need!) or very minimal impacts to them. IT plays a critical role to the success of the Elanco Connect Retail Dairy model design, testing, and implementation – they truly are an outstanding team and understand our needs so we achieve our business objectives for the year.
