What is Innovation Day?
Innovation day is a planned event where people work on innovative projects that are outside the scope of what they would have done on a “regular” day. Time is set aside to work on projects that will improve our processes, products or push innovative thinking. Teams can work any improvement for the idea they want, as long as it somehow relates back to something we do, use, or make.
Innovation day was also designed for people to have fun and experience the excitement that comes with working with a variety of great people within our organization.
Our first Innovation Day Theme:
Ideas that would improve a process, technology, or the way we do business at Elanco.
What’s in it for me?
- The ability to submit an innovative idea you’ve been thinking about.
- If your idea is chosen, you will get a team to help you research and develop your idea to make it a reality.
- You’re encouraged to devote some time to either solving something about your world that bothers you or completely revolutionize the way your team works.
- Meet and work with colleagues you may have seen around but never had the chance to work with.
- Get a chance to be creative.
- Explore a wide range of unique and interesting ideas, whether they’re related to your role or not.
- Be casual. Engage your mind. Have fun.
What kind of ideas are you looking for?
Think about areas that would solve a pain point in a process or improve the experience for the customer. Get outside your comfort zone. What would happen if you could add robotics in the mix? What if there was an app that connected your customer to your product? How could the internet of things advance the users’ experience? What if there was a live interaction? What if your product learned your user’s preferences with ai (artificial intelligence)? Are there things we could borrow from Google or Amazon? Think BIG.
