SharePoint Future-State Information

You may have received numerous emails regarding the migration of Elanco SharePoint sites to SharePoint Online.

We have not yet finalized our future-state architecture related to SharePoint. As a result, our short-term strategy is “business as usual”.

Therefore, we will be migrating all our LOW complexity sites to SharePoint Online as part of Lilly’s program. MEDIUM and HIGH complexity sites are out of scope until we have finalized our future-state architecture (targeting Q1 2019). For definitions of what constitutes these ratings, please see below.

Complexity Ratings:

HIGH: These are sites which contain custom coding (usually to add special functionality, and/or make the sites look like they are not SharePoint).

MEDIUM: Any sites which contain modified InfoPath forms, and/or SharePoint workflows. Elanco have around 150 of these sites.

LOW: These are all forms of standard collaboration sites, with none of the additional functionality mentioned above. Elanco have around 800 of these sites.

If you own a HIGH complexity site, then you should have already been contacted by Matt Cronin. If not, please contact him directly.

If you have been sent communications relating to costs and budgeting for redeveloping HIGH or MEDIUM complexity sites in order to make them compatible with SharePoint Online, please explain that Elanco HIGH and MEDIUM owned sites are currently out of scope.

In terms of timings for these migrations, some IT-owned sites will be migrated between now and DEC-2018, with the rest of the Elanco sites starting in 2019. As site owners, Lilly GIS will contact you directly regarding specific timing and logistics.

If you have questions related to SharePoint, please contact Matt Cronin. Questions regarding the broader IT strategy should be directed towards your Functional Architect or myself.
