IT Updates

Elanco IT Team,
With the new year in full swing, the IT organization continues pushing forward as we develop our own systems and processes. There’s a lot of great work happening across IT and our PMO – all of it critical as we build a solid foundation for our new company. Below is a snapshot of recent updates, and don’t forget to join us for the next IT Town Hall on March 13 for more.

ETS
In 2019, ETS will publish a roundup of ongoing projects, updates and successes across a range of areas including Network, Identity, Collaboration and Workplace Services, Site Services & Real Estate and ETS-specific PMO updates, among many others. These updates will be published bi-weekly and can be accessed here. Recent highlights include:

  • Network: Paul Graham has joined ETS as the new Chief Network Architect. More on Paul in the next edition of ETS Updates.
  • Collaboration: Will it be Slack, Microsoft, or Workplace? Check out the latest in the search for a collaboration tool in this Unite post.
  • Real Estate / Sites: ETS has been running workshops to review requirements across Commercial, Manufacturing, Research etc.? to understand, down to the site level, what the requirements are to best support our customers and ensure we provide the best customer experience.

ERP

  • Platform: We released a communication via the Path to Independence newsletter announcing our selection of SAP as our ERP platform. If you missed it, you can see the communication here.
  • Implementation: On the heels of this news, we are in final contract negotiation with our solutions implementation (SI) partner to play the primary role of leading us through the next two years of our SAP implementation.
  • Hosting: The team released an RFP for selection of a partner to host the SAP platform, and review of the responses begins the week of Feb. 4.

Information Security
Information Security is preparing to send reminders to all Elanco employees around the importance of protecting Elanco’s information – everything from controlling confidential documents to admitting people to our buildings. A few critical reminders and tips we’ll be sharing:

  • Secure your workspace. Keep your desk or work area clear and clean. Do not keep confidential information, including passwords, out in the open. Physical assets including laptops, iPads, cell phones, USBs, and keys should be locked in your office, cabinets or locker.
  • Create unique Skype meeting passwords – it’s quick and easy to do. In recent weeks, we have received multiple reports of Elanco employees dialing into the same Skype accounts for meetings, causing disruption and potentially compromising confidential information discussed on calls. It only takes a few minutes to complete a one-time default setting that will create a unique password for each Skype for Business virtual meeting. You can also download Skype for Business for iOS to your mobile phone.
  • Don’t let unknown persons into the building. All Elanco employees and visitors must be badged. If someone is attempting to enter the building without a badge, escort them to the front desk. For more information, ask your supervisor or visit the Facilities intranet site.

R&D-EKS

  • Elanco Library Update: Lilly’s LINK library for accessing scientific publications will no longer be available at the time of divestiture. The implementation of the Elanco Library is nearing completion, and more information will be shared in the Elanco Path to Independence newsletter.
  • Regulatory Information Management: The One Source program team will be meeting in Antwerp, Belgium, the week of February 11 to complete the detailed implementation plan for Veeva RIM. This project will enable Elanco’s future state Regulatory Information Management platform for managing product submissions and registrations.

Enterprise Data and Analytics

  • Data and Analytics: Elanco is partnering with WWT to complete the analysis and high-level design for our future state data and analytics environment. The team is comprised of IT and functional representatives from across the enterprise who will be participating in interviews and workshops over the next six to eight weeks.  Please contact Lisa Casey for additional information related to this key workstream.

The IT lead team wants to thank you for your hard work and commitment to Elanco as we approach full divestiture from Lilly.
We appreciate all you do.

Kind regards,
Fred Wenzel
