Elanco IT Team,
As our team continues to make decisions and take action to reinvent IT for Elanco, the pace of change can be daunting. Know that your many contributions are invaluable during this chapter in Elanco’s history. You’ll hear more at our IT Town Hall on March 13. For now, here are a few brief updates.
ETS
On February 21, ETS published its bi-weekly update accessible here. Highlights include:
- ETS Q&A: The ETS team will provided a list of questions and answers in the bi-weekly update in an effort to communicate about the transition. Current topics include site roll-out plans, help desk information and IT equipment procurement.
- Workplace Services: The evolution of our collaboration tools continues. Earlier this month, Lilly announced its plans to retire The Loop. You can read more here. Among other developments, high-level designs for end-user Computing and mobility have been scoped with the work stream now including hardware recommendations, application delivery, virtualization and more.
- Service Management: This team is nearing completion of the formal RFP build to then submit for both the ServiceDesk MSP as well as the ServiceNow Platform and IT Service Management support.
Manufacturing and Quality
In cooperation with the Manufacturing and Quality (M&Q) business “disentanglement” team, Manufacturing and Quality IT is working on multiple fronts of Stallion, including future state solution selection, cutover planning and improved communication needed to separate (or disentangle) from Lilly. With the support of Elanco’s senior leadership team (Elanco Manufacturing Policy Committee or EMPC), we are seeking every viable opportunity to leverage the Stallion transition to improve the business and IT operations. Some improvements have already been decided while other critical decisions, such as Maximo versus SAP-EAM and Darwin versus SAP-QM, will be made in March and April. Recent updates from Manufacturing and Quality include:
- Future Quality Solution: The quality governance team, a joint business and IT steering team, has selected Veeva QDOCS (Quality Documents) and Veeva QMS (Quality Management System) for the core quality solutions for Elanco. These applications will replace numerous individual applications in the Lilly MQ suite, including Trackwise, Regulus, Archer, Action Tracker and NTM, thus resulting in both streamlined processes and improved IT efficiencies.
- Safety Data Sheets: Elanco HSE recently concluded an RFP and has selected Sphera-SDS for authoring Safety Data Sheets. This project will be implemented by the end of the year, enabling us to capture a significant TSA savings with Lilly. The software change will impact HSE authoring personnel. For most people it will be a change to the SDS reference website. Specific communication to site HSE will occur when this new reference site is available.
- Site and hub cutover assessment: The local IT teams have begun detailed impact assessment of moving from Lilly GIS to the new Elanco ETS environment.
- Laboratory Informatics Strategy: R&D and M&Q are working together in the development of a unified Elanco-wide lab informatics strategy. The team, along with external lab consultants from Astrix Technology Group, are visiting several R&D and M&Q labs this month and will consult with others to fully understand the current processes and to gather ideas for preferred future states. The group will provide strategy and application selection proposals in April.
As always, the IT lead team thanks you for your ongoing commitment to Elanco.
Again, we look forward to providing further updates at the IT Town Hall on March 13.
Kind regards,
Fred Wenzel
