ETS Transition Update

Only got a minute? Here’s 6 things you need to know from ETS:

  1. Network: The RFP responses are in and the Site Cutover workshops were successful!
  2. Workplace Services: Zoom licenses for hosting meetings are now available, request one here. Logitek and Meeting Owls are the proposed conference room solution.
  3. Productivity: We’re working on guidance to provide to users to help them prepare their files and documents for the Microsoft move. We also ran our first tech talk from Microsoft: Collaboration and Productivity.
  4. Cloud: We’re successfully migrated some applications to Azure and run an introduction to Azure Technologies session with some key IT users.
  5. Identity: These past weeks we’ve been trying to address the question: What happens to IAM in the Microsoft Tenant Migration? Plus: Buildout of Active Directory & RSA environment will begin on the 31st May.
  6. Service Management: Demos coming soon! UAT starts 10th June.

The Long Version: For those who want ALL the detail!

Network – Paul Graham

  • The Network operations RFP responses are in! A last-minute, 1-week extension to the submission deadline was granted to allow the providers to respond fully to our comprehensive network, security and telephony request for proposal (RFP). We are now working our way through the many pages of documentation to score and down-select the best responses and two providers will make it through to the presentation phase.
  • Site cutover workshops with Lilly have been very successful. Further site cutover workshops with Lilly have been very collaborative this and last week, allowing us jointly to develop a more precise proposal, which both teams can sign up to, for how our sites will become “Elanco”.

Workplace Services – Ellie Burn

  • Meeting rooms will utilise Logitech equipment with Teams and Zoom being the software offerings.
  • The initial templates have been shared with site leads and we will continue to share these to a wider audience over the next few weeks. There have also been some test devices used in Greenfield, and this will be the chosen site for a POC of all room sizes soon.
  • There have been some new digital signage features released by Zoom which meet some of our use cases and we will be working through these with our Corporate Comms team. We also spoke to Walmart about how they use Zoom for digital signage.

Productivity: Tom Burton/Ellie Burn

  • User Data Migration: We are currently trying to understand our current landscape of user data, where it’s stored, how it’s connected and where it could be moved to. As soon as conclusions are reached, we will be communicating advice.
  • The first MS101 session was held this week and was all about Collaboration and Productivity. The recording can be found here.
  • The attendance and engagement for this was excellent, with over 60% of the IT organisation attending, and some great questions being asked. Many thanks to all those who took time out of their day to join.
  • Whilst we can still make some improvements, we will continue to work with MS to deliver further 101 sessions, ensuring that they are relevant and valuable to our IT organisation. You can help us do so by completing this feedback survey before EOD Tuesday 4th June.
  • The next MS101 sessions will be held throughout June and will focus on Data. More information about this will be posted on the Tech Talk Teams channel.

Cloud - Calum Bell

  • Successful Application Migration of applications into Azure: During the week of the 13th, the Cloud team spent time with several application owners and spent just one day per application developing a rapid prototype of how an application could work within the Azure environment leveraging the modern technology ecosystem.
  • We are currently documenting this process to provide high-level guidance on transformations
  • On the 15th May, we ran an Introduction to Azure Technologies session at Microsoft’s site in Indianapolis with our advisors, developers and security team local to Greenfield. This session was a great success, we had each user spin up a sample web application in several our hosting patterns.
  • We are now starting to build out our production subscriptions.

Identity - Calum Bell

  • We’ve been mapping out how IAM is impacted by our Tenant Migration Options in a series of workshops with Lilly’s IAM and O365 teams, and then with the ETS team again. And again. And again. No whiteboarding pens were hurt in the following ETS sessions, and no decisions have been reached as yet.

  • Both the IAM and GSIT teams are now consolidating our timelines and strategies so the data flows and end user story can be told holistically to the wider Elanco.
  • We are initiating the buildout of our Active Directory & RSA environment on the 31st May.

Service Management (ServiceNow: Employee Portal, IT, HR, E&C):

  • Communications/Announcements Coming! - We’ve had countless requests for demos, road-shows, readouts, etc asking to show ServiceNow’s future state. Please know that we’ve heard the requests and we’re now heavy into development and able to build our communications. They’re coming soon, please hold tight!
  • User Acceptance Testing (June 10-13) - The IT functions of the ServiceNow platform are nearly completed and will be entering User Acceptance Testing in 2 weeks. Folks from each of the IT orgs will be present to represent a thorough cross-section of our customer base. The Employee Portal, HR, and E&C portions of ServiceNow will undergo UAT later.
